विदेशों में अपनी काबिलियत के दम पर झंडे गाड़ने वालों में एक और हिमाचली का नाम जुड़ गया है. जिला हमीरपुर के डॉक्टर गौरव शर्मा न्यूजीलैंड में लेबर पार्टी के मेंबर आफ पार्लियामेंट चुने गए हैं. उन्होंने न्यूजीलैंड के हैमिल्टोन वेस्ट से चुनाव लड़ते हुए नेशनल पार्टी के प्रत्याशी को हराया है.
डॉक्टर गौरव शर्मा को भारत के पहले इलेक्टेड एमपी होने का ख़िताब मिला है। कियूँकि इससे पहले भारत से जो भी एमपी बाहरी देशों में बने हैं वे सब नॉमिनेटेड हुए हैं .हैमिल्टोन ईस्ट और वेस्ट में लेबर पार्टी के मेंबर आफ पार्लियामेंट चुने गए हैं . 33 वर्षीय डॉक्टर गौरव शर्मा ने अपने विरोधी को 4386 मतों से हराया है। डॉक्टर गौरव ने जीत के बाद कहा है उनकी यह जीत प्रचार का अंत नहीं है बल्कि यह शुरुआत है उन वादों को पूरा करने की जो उन्होंने जनता से किये हैं।
डॉक्टर गौरव शर्मा ने न्यूजीलैंड में MBSS की डिग्री हासिल की है जिसके वाद वह आकलैंड में डॉक्टर बने। डॉक्टर गौरव शर्मा न्यूजीलैंड में लेबर पार्टी के मेंबर आफ पार्लियामेंट चुने जाने से हिमकहल ही नहीं पुरे देश का नाम ऊँचा हुआ है।
